OBJECTIVES

The Principal objectives of the West Bengal Khadi & Village Industries are to establish encourage assist and carry on Khadi & Village Industries and thereby create employment which will eventually generate self- reliance amongst the people and built up a sound economic base for rural society. Objectives of the Board may be specified as follows :-
i). to create employment opportunities in the non-farm sector in the rural areas,
ii). to produce saleable articles or to provide services for which there is effective demand,
iii).to support rural development in its widest sense and to improve the quality of rural life.West Bengal Khadi and Village Industries Board is dedicated to generate the rural employment, by encouraging the small micro entrepreneurs and artisans to establish their business. Successful employers are directly supporting the growth of the rural economy.

We have financed thousands of Individual and Initiatives to generate healthy number of jobs under different schemes of rural employment generation. Through Project approach, Pre-CBC Schemes, CBC Scheme, REGP, PMEGP since 1958 AD with public sector banks our office directly involved to achieve the organizational goals.

The Khadi & Village Industries Programme plays a predominant role in providing employment opportunities to rural artisans more specifically the weaker sections of society. The functions of KVICĀ  are generally to plan, promote, organize and assist in implementation of programmes for the development of Khadi & Village Industries. The implementation of Khadi & Village Industries programme in our country is a joint effort of KVIC , which is an apex organization at the central level and the KVIB, functioning in various States and Union Territories. The primary responsibility of carrying out the programme of village industries lies with State KVIB and this State is carrying out this programme with sincere efforts.
