State Level Golden Jubilee Celebration of WBKVIB
The State Level Golden Jubilee Celebration of the West Bengal Khadi & Village Industries Board (WBKVIB) was celebrated with huge excitement and fanfare. The main objective of the landmark event was to recognise, encourage, and award spinners, weavers, and rural entrepreneurs who have made exemplary contributions toward developing the rural economy and bringing a new dimension to modern Khadi garments.
Key Highlights & Attractions

Statewide Artisan Competitions: A grand six-day competition featured 120 qualified zonal-level winners competing across 11 distinct categories, culminating in medals, certificates, and financial rewards for 45 selected master artisans.

Project Muslin & Rural Development: The presidential focus highlighted institutional breakthroughs supported by the state government, emphasizing employment generation through the historic revival of heritage Muslin and rural craftsmanship.

Regional Folk & Tribal Arts: Every evening hosted specialized heritage performances, including Baul songs from Paschim Medinipur, Santhali dance, Bankura's Chhau and Ranpa dance forms, Malda's traditional Gambhira, and a specialized puppet show from Dakshin Dinajpur.

Thematic Drama & Classical Dance: Included Rabindranath Tagore's dance drama "Shyama", specialized violin orchestration from Hooghly, patriotic dance dramas, Odissi dance segments, and elite literary recitations.

Heritage Fashion Shows: Celebrated traditional textiles through a specialized Khadi garments display by the Kolkata Gujarati Samaj and a grand finale theme showcase titled 'Thakur Barir Sajsajja' curated by prominent fashion designer Sri Niloy Sengupta.

Timing: Held from 8th March 2015 to 15th March 2015 (Daily competitions conducted from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM).

Inaugural & Institutional Leadership: Formally inaugurated by the Hon’ble Chairman of Kolkata Municipal Corporation. The event was welcome-addressed by CEO Sri Mrityunjoy Bandyopadhyay and presided over by WBKVIB Chairman Sri Gouri Sankar Dutta.

Organizing Board Matrix: Facilitated under Secretarial guidance with active coordination from Sri Swapan Biswas (Cultural), Sri Prasanta Samanta (Infrastructure), Sri Tapanjyoti Das (Competitions), and Member Convener Sri Biswajit Sarkar.
