It has learnt that in the year, 1952 a few years after our independence a few clay model artists being up-rooted from East Pakisthan / Bengal i.e. Bangladesh started manufacturing of clay painted idols and images in the Bank of the canal in Bagmari areas now known as Canal East Road. But they have recently found it extremely difficult to pull on their activities due to dearth of fund required for running and maintenance of their units.

State Government has decided to explore the possibilities of attending the requirement of those artists under Cluster Development Programme. And WB-KVIB has been asked to find out the areas of intervention under Cluster Development Programme with financial assistance from State Plan Allocation from the year, 2009-2010 & 2010-2011.
