CLUSTER DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME (CDP)
Cluster development has evolved from medieval villages to a 1928 application in Radburn, NJ, with strong implementation across India and a particular focus on West Bengal's unique handicrafts. These, along with other village industries, are economically vital and, due to their localized, community-based nature, offer efficient, cost-effective development potential through shared resources and strategic planning.

Objectives of WBKVIB with a special reference to CDP
- Organize traditional industries/artisans into clusters.
- Provide sustained employment for artisans.
- Render skills through training and exposure.
- Create common facilities and improve tools.
- Promote stakeholder participation.
- Enhance product marketability.
