The Project Muslin in the Districts of Birbhum, Malda, Murshidabad, Paschim Midnapore has been undertaken by WBKVIB under the active guidance of MSME & T Department, Government of West Bengal with a holistic approach for changing the quality of life of the Traditional Artisans/Craftsmen engaged in Muslin Khadi Industry in the above noted Muslin Khadi Industry in the above noted Districts. On the situation analysis conducted by the team of Kolkata Craft Combine Society, it has been revealed that for overall livelihood development of the Artisans, Soft Interventions, Hard Intervention and Interventions for Livelihood issues would be essential.
Keeping the above into view, MSME & T Department assigned the Task of implementing the Project Muslin in the above noted districts.
In fine the objectives of the project for extending support towards, Soft, Hard Interventions and also for intervention on Livelihood Development may be considered as under:
To increase minimum 50% Per Capita Income of 536 nos. families covering 1610 nos. Muslin Artisans and Workers in the districts of Birbhum, Malda, Murshidabad, Paschim Midnapore under State Plan.
To provide enabling environment for processing and producing Muslin Khadi Products.
To uplift economical and social status of the Muslin Artisans and Workers in the Local Level, District Level, State Level, National & International Level.
To attract new generation towards this Industry by creating new opportunities for more income.
To develop Culture Enterprise.
Project Muslin at Dhaniakhali block Total Project Cost- 175.23 lakhs
Employment : 140 Nos.
Facilities Provided: Soft Intervention, 85 Nos. of Charkha and 24 Nos. of Loom distributed costing to Rs. 19.175 lakhs, CFC at Balagarh completed costing to Rs. 44.14 lakhs & CFC at Dhaniakhali completed costing to Rs. 38.39 lakhs.
